March 15: South Africa Announcement

Dear South Africa study abroad students, parents, and guardians,

The world has witnessed unprecedented volatility in the last few days.  There has been a chain reaction of impacts since the European travel ban was imposed on Friday. As international airline carriers have cut their capacity and other countries are imposing travel restrictions, this has led CSB/棋牌以小博大活动 re-evaluate our South Africa program.

Today, after very careful evaluation, the Provost’s office made the decision to suspend our South Africa program.  At this time, we ask students to begin the work of changing your flights to return as soon as possible and no later than Wednesday, March 18th.

CSB/棋牌以小博大活动 has made the decision to suspend the South Africa program based on many factors, that include:

  • The changing nature of the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that includes most of Europe, which is now a Level 3 Travel Health Notice.
  • The U.S. Department of State has issued an elevated Global Level 3 Health Advisory.
  • A worldwide decrease in flight routes and capacity.  Many of the air routes used by our South Africa study abroad students are being impacted.
  • The continued evolution of U.S. and world government actions that put in travel restrictions that may complicate a students’ return home.
